WEEKLY LIBRARY ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS

Mondays @ 10:00AM & 1:00PM (STORYTIME)
April 8 No Storytime
        ●  We sing, read stories and make crafts that help develop pre-reading skills. Best for ages 0-5, all ages welcome.

Mondays @ 12-2PM (TUTORING)
    ●  April  1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th
    ●  GED/ HSE Tutoring
The Providing Academic Support Success (PASS) offers a strategy for high school exam preparation. Practice tests are available. Tutors help students evaluate areas they need to strengthen prior to taking the test. Work is assigned individually, with one-on-one support. There is no cost to participants, start at any time, self-paced learning, individualized tutoring, and they have six different locations. Currently, at the Ray County Library, the PASS program meets every Monday in the Community Room from 12-2pm. interested individuals can contact the front desk or call 816-726-6717.

Tuesdays @ 4:00 pm - 5:00pm (FAMILY PROGRAMS BEST FOR AGES 5-12)
●  April  2, Evening Storytime: We sing, read stories and make crafts that help develop pre-reading skills. Best for ages 0-7, all ages welcome.
● April 9, Goats at the Library:  Cheryl Marrant owner of CLM Premium Goats and Goat Milk products will be at the library to teach all about dairy goats.
● April 16, Sharks, We will read Clark the Shark Dares to Share by Bruce Hale and. Then we will be creating a shark picture on canvas.
● April 23, Sharks and Oceans: We will read Surprising Sharks,  by Nicola Davis. We will learn about sharks and ocean science.  We will be doing some experimenting with activities from Super Simple Ocean Projects by Carolyn Bernhart.
● April 30,  Marbles, Building Bricks and Robots:  Learn to play marbles, create with building bricks, experiment with robots and other STEM activities.

April 10 No Teen Time              
Teen Time at the library will include chess, robotics, board games, craft projects, snacks, cooking and more.

 April 4th, 2019 @ 4:45  pm (ADULT PROGRAM)
    ●  Scrapbookers wanted! Please come join us for a new scrapbooking program at 4:45 PM. This is an adult program for individuals 18 years or older.

April 8th, 2019 (CLOSED)
    ●  The Ray County Library will be closed in observance of National Library Worker Day.  The Ray County Library staff will be engaged in all day staff development.

April 11th and 25th, 2019 @ 4:45 pm (ADULT PROGRAM)
    ● Knitting and crocheting group will be here in our meeting room. This program is for adults 18+.

April 18th, 2019 @ 10:00 am Health as a Whole  (Adult Program)
    ●  Join Registered Nurse Lacey Sullenger, for health education and conversation in the library’s Meeting Room.

FREE Genealogy Assistance  
    ●  Do you need help with microfilm research?  The Ray County Library offers a unique opportunity for genealogy seekers.  We have 100+ rolls of film that contain local information. We would like to help connect local people with the past. Call the front desk at 816-776-5104.

    ●  Please feel free to call the Ray County Library with ideas and suggestions for future programs.



Outreach
    ●  Outreach is available to patrons who are homebound. The librarians pick a collection of books which suit that patron and deliver them to their home when needed. Please contact the front desk if you would like to be included in this service.


Reserve a Librarian   

    ●  The Ray County Library’s Reserve a Librarian service allows you to spend a 30-minute session with a librarian who can offer assistance tailored to your needs. This will allow you to reserve a librarian for an uninterrupted one-on-one, face to face, 30-minute session. Reserve a Librarian requires 3-day advance notice and requests for specific times are dependent on staff availability. Appointments are limited to 30 minutes in length to allow staff to serve the greatest number of residents. To set up a convenient time please contact the front desk at 816-776-5104.
